Artspace were generously hosted by Charleston, Lewes!

Members of Artspace were generously hosted by Charleston Lewes on Saturday 8th March.

We were inspired by Grayson Perry's experimental use of medium, ceramics, tapestry and paint to not only reflect the life and times that we live in but the lives that are lived. The execution of his concepts are inhabited in beautifully constructed pieces with fine attention to detail.

Jaqui enjoyed the trip to the Grayson Perry expo. It gave her something new to talk about to people!

"An interesting contemporary artist, and I was fascinated by his depiction of his fictional character Julie. I also found the maps so detailed and fascinating and liked the newest work which was the pottery. A great opportunity to do something as a group."

"I found it to be a very inspiring exhibition and it was nice to see it with my fellow Artspacers. Grayson Perry has a brilliant imagination, the work was technically brilliant (I particularly liked the tapestries), and I love how he looks at things that affect society and regular people and can translate that into work that is personal, engaging and often funny."

The collection of modernist paintings gave Jane inspiration and a time for reflection on ways of seeing. She is especially fond of the work of Winifred Nicholson.

Thank you everyone for coming along and thank you again to Charleston Lewes! It certainly gave us plenty to ponder on, on the way home!
