The Inspiration of a Secret Garden

Artspace artists spent a morning in May surrounded by the colours and shapes of the ‘Secret Garden’ in Kemp Town. The natural forms, bird song and sunshine inspired us to create paintings and sketches which may inform future works.

Thank you to Talia and Gray for opening the garden up to us. We are looking forward to making regular visits and watching the paintbrush of the changing seasons do its work.

Sophie one of our artists observed:

“The garden is such a special and beautiful space to relax and draw in, it feels miles away from the city and the humdrum of normal life.”

The Sculpture installations generated much interest and discussion. Many of us preferred the natural forms of poppy heads and acorns, but others felt that the modern sculptures juxtaposed the natural beauty of the garden in an interesting way.
